about us
MIO was born in Modena, a place where engineering and imagination have shaped generations of dreamers. Rooted in automotive culture, we transform mechanical forms into collectible objects for interiors. Each piece is developed and handcrafted in Italy's Motor Valley through a process of research, prototyping, and artisanal work. Drawing on materials and techniques inherited from motorsport, MIO creates objects that reinterpret the automobile beyond its purpose. Far from being memorabilia, we seek to preserve and reactivate a language that risks disappearing in an era increasingly defined by standardization.

the studio

philosophy
The first lesson of the Motor Valley is that dreams can become reality. MIO was born from founder Lorenzo Menegazzo's fascination with the emotional power of the automobile. As a child, he spent summers in the Apennines around Modena with his grandfather Giovanni Battista and an old Volkswagen Beetle that came back to life every Sunday in a ritual of sounds, smells, and mechanical gestures.

“a car could transform the way reality was experienced.”
Those moments revealed something that would remain with him for years; a car could transform the way reality was experienced. Years later, after developing his artistic practice in London, Lorenzo realised that this early fascination had quietly shaped his creative research. Returning to Modena, he immersed himself in the garages, and stories that define the

Motor Valley, discovering a language of materials and forms, capable of generating emotion. Today, MIO is driven by the desire to preserve that sense of wonder. Through collectible objects, curated driving experiences, and cultural encounters, the studio explores the relationship between automotive culture, design, craftsmanship, and art.
